Provincial Substance Use Strategy Consultations

In keeping with our government’s commitment to identify and address problematic substance use in our province, the Department of Health and Community Services is developing a Provincial Substance Use Strategy. A long-term comprehensive provincial substance use strategy is required to influence and sustain real change. This strategy will seek to prevent problematic substance use and to provide effective treatment, enforcement and harm reduction strategies. Your views are important for the development of this strategy.

There will be 25 consultations in nine communities to seek input from treatment providers, youth, seniors and other targeted stakeholder groups on a proposed Provincial Substance Use Strategy. In addition to the consultation sessions, we are seeking input from interested individuals. Please review the Discussion Paper and the Profile Paper. The purpose of these papers is to provide information regarding substance use issues in Newfoundland and Labrador today. Your input will better inform us to  more effectively identify and discuss issues related to problematic substance use and to contribute to a comprehensive approach to addressing these issues.

If you are interested in providing input for the development of the Provincial Substance Use Strategy, please fill out this form or print this form and mail to:
